Holy Batman: A Link Between Headaches and Food Sensitivity?

We all know that the foods we eat have a significant impact on our energy levels, digestion, and health. However, what many people aren’t aware of is that food sensitivities can manifest as headaches and other symptoms. These symptoms are a result of IgG antibodies which trigger a systemic immune response.

These symptoms can include:

  • Headaches & Migraines

  • Bloating

  • Anxiety

  • Heartburn

  • Joint Pain

  • Fatigue

  • Irritability

  • Rashes

  • Nasal Congestion

The Immune Response Why can the foods we are sensitive to cause headaches and other symptoms? When our body is sensitive to a food, it treats the food particles as foreign invaders that it needs to attack and remove. The IgG antibodies that are being released to fight the “foreign invaders” have been proven to cause headaches as well as an array of other symptoms. In the scientific article “Food allergy mediated by IgG antibodies associated with migraine in adults,” the results showed that IgG antibodies should be tested for if a patient comes to the doctor with a migraine. This study and many others have also shown a correlation between headaches and levels of IgG antibodies.

Elimination Diet and Food Sensitivity Testing

Elimination diets are a way to jumpstart sensitivity evaluations and can help to minimize your symptoms. You can learn more about elimination diets on the “What is the Elimination Diet?” blog post.

GLIM is up to date on the current evidence and believes in integrating Food Sensitivity Testing when appropriate. GLIM offers a Food Sensitivity Assessment (FSA) program to help get to the root cause of your symptoms.

If you suffer from symptoms such as headaches, joint pain, and fatigue, you should schedule a free consultation with GLIM today to further discuss your headaches and food sensitivities.
